Empowering Women In Wine
And Our Dedication To Education
American women have had a long history in winemaking, with pioneers like Hannah Weinberger, Napa’s first female winemaker and winery owner. In 1889, she proudly represented her wines at the World’s Fair in Paris, where she became the only female California vintner to win a silver medal.
In honor of Women’s History Month, we acknowledge the women who have made strides in the craft beverage industry, a field that has traditionally been male-dominated. At Mia Marie Vineyards, we take immense pride in all our employees, especially our experienced female wine maker – who is supported by another talented woman with background in beer making. Together, our team actively engages in San Diego organizations that empower and educate women in our industry, such as the Women’s Wine Alliance (focused on female professionals in all roles of the wine industry) and Pink Boots Society (assisting and inspiring those in the fermented/alcoholic beverage industry).
We also encourage continuous learning for our staff. We regularly host training sessions and informal educational evenings improve service and deepen wine knowledge. In fact, many of our team members are either certified wine experts or are working toward their certifications.
The goal of our education is not simply to showcase our knowledge but to enhance our guests’ experience of wine. Our passion starts in the vineyard, carries through the winery and culminates with every pour in your glass.
Cheers to our team and to all the women who continue to follow their passions!
